Good Samaritan Puts Out Fire On Nautilus Drive Property
Passerby puts out large stockade fence fire that damaged two homes with a garden hose, police chief says

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - A passerby who spotted a large stockade fence fire between two homes recently grabbed a garden hose and put the blaze out before help arrived, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
Officer Andrew Slota responded to the 500 block of Nautilus Boulevard, Forked River at 12:19 p.m. on May 1 on a report of a fire.
He found the fire involved a wooden fence between two homes. When the Forked River Fire Department arrived, the blaze had already been put out, the chief said.

The damage was limited to the wooden fence, several garbage cans, and the siding of both homes. The estimated damage was $1,000 for each home, DiBella said.
The Ocean County Fire Marshal, the Lacey Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and the Lacey Township building inspector responded. The Fire Marshal determined that the fire was started by the combustion of fresh mulch and was ruled not suspicious, the chief said.
