Lacey Beefs Up School Protection For The New Year

Three more school resource officers have been hired, police chief says.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The township has added three Class III special police officers to the roster for the Lacey school district's security program for the 2018-2019 school year, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

The new officers will join the two armed security officers who worked for the district last year. Detective Charles May, who was the school resource officer at Lacey Township High School, will expand his role to be the school resource officer for all six Lacey schools, the chief said.

"An area of focus continues to be safety and security and we are very proud of the collaborations that took place with Chief DiBella and the Lacey Township Police Department in hiring three Class III Officers,
Superintendent Vanessa P. Clark said on the school district website. "Our five officers will work closely with School Resource Officer, Detective Charlie May, to ensure that our schools are safe and that our visitor management protocols are appropriately followed. We ask for both your assistance and cooperation in providing accurate identification when visiting the schools."
