Lacey Elks Honor 'Community Heroes' in Town
Event acknowledged the volunteer first responder organizations in the Lacey community

Lacey Lodge # 2518 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks held a Community Heroes appreciation event on Dec. 15 in order to recognize and acknowledge the volunteer first responder organizations in our community. These responders are the men and women who donate their time, energy and expertise to help others.
A total of eight volunteer organizations were recognized at the event. A representative from each organization received a certificate of appreciation for their volunteerism, dedication and service to the community, a two-hundred fifty dollar check made out to the organization and an American Flag lapel pin.
The organizations and representatives are as follows: Lanoka Harbor Volunteer Fire Company - President Mike Nugent, Bamber Lakes Fire Company - Chief Ephraim Melendez, Forked River Volunteer Fire Company #1 - Chief Ray Brandmahl, Waretown Volunteer Fire Company - President Baron Giberson, Lanoka Harbor Emergency Medical Services - Past Captain Roy Johnsen, Lacey Township First Aid Squad - President John Hode, Waretown First Aid Squad - Mr. Chuck McCormick, Lacey Township Underwater Rescue and Recovery - Mr. Jeff Nilon.

Special guest, the Honorable Mr. Dave Most, mayor of Lacey Township was on hand to make the presentations to our Community Heroes along with Mr. Lou Zigarelli, Exalted Ruler of Lacey Elk’s Lodge #2518.
Mayor Dave Most thanked the recipients and acknowledged the volunteer first responder organizations for their service and dedication to the community. He also went on to say, “We owe them all a great debt of gratitude”.
