Lacey High School Students Plan Walk-Out For April 20

The "peaceful" protest against gun violence will start at 10 a.m. on the football field.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ -Some students at Lacey Township High School are planning a peaceful protest on April 20 to say they have "had enough" of school shooting.

"It's a protest to let Congress know we're scared," according to the post on actionnetwork.org.

Students are always told after every mass shooting in the country that they are "safe here," the post states.

"That could very well be true," according to the post. "However, I'm sure the kids in Parkland, Sandy Hook, and Columbine thought the very same thing. It's time to make sure that we are safe. This is not a protest to ban all guns. It's a protest to let Congress know we're scared. It's a protest to beg them to protect us before they protect their Second Amendment rights. It is up to us, the future of our country, to say that we've had enough.

The group has planned the event for 10 a.m. on April 20 on the football field.

"Bring your friends, bring signs if you want, but keep in mind that this is a peaceful protest," the post states. "We need to let Congress know that we are willing to work with them to make our safety happen.
I know, 'it won't happen here. We're safe.' But do we want to risk it?"

Women’s March Youth EMPOWER is calling for students, teachers, school administrators, parents and allies to take part in a#NationalSchoolWalkout for 17 minutes at 10 a.m. on March 14 to protest Congress' inaction on gun violence.
