Lacey Man Lit Rental Home Furniture On Fire, Prosecutor Says
Taquan Shelton is accused of setting a couch and ottoman inside his rental home on fire, authorities said.
LACEY, NJ — A Lacey man is accused of setting furniture on fire inside of the home he's renting, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
Taquan Shelton, 43, was charged with aggravated arson following a residential fire on Hillwood Road Wednesday afternoon, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Shortly after 1 p.m. Oct. 15, Lacey police and fire departments went to home and found furniture inside on fire, Billhimer said. The blaze was extinguished.

The fire started from someone igniting a couch and ottoman using an open flame and flammable liquid, Billhimer said.
Shelton, a renter of the home, was identified as the person responsible, Billhimer said.

He was taken into custody and lodged at Ocean County Jail, where he remains pending a detention hearing.
