Lacey Police Chief Against Arming Teachers
Police Chief Michael C. DiBella says he meets almost daily with schools Superintendent Craig Wigley since Parkland shootings

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Count Lacey Police Chief Michael C. DiBella as another official who does not think arming teachers in Lacey Township is a good idea.
"I do not support that," he said.
Schools Superintendent Craig Wigley said recently he does not either.

"This is so far from a viable and timely solution I cannot respond appropriately," Wigley said in an email to Patch.
DiBella said he and Wigley have a good working relationship and have met frequently since the summer of 2016 to improve safety and security in Lacey schools. Together they brought the first full-time school resource officer to the district last September.

"Since the incident in Parkland, we have been meeting almost daily," the chief said.
President Trump met with grieving family members and survivors in a "listening session" on Wednesday. He asked if they supported allowing teachers and other school employees to carry concealed weapons, an idea he said could have halted the carnage in Parkland, according to a report in the New York Times.
"That coach was very brave, saved a lot of lives, I suspect," Mr. Trump said, apparently referring to Aaron Feis, a coach at Stoneman Douglas who reportedly died using his body as a shield to protect students. "But if he had a firearm, he wouldn't have had to run, he would have shot and that would have been the end of it."
