LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey police are investigating a credit card fraud that left a township man out $1,800, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
Officer Scott Anderson responded to police headquarters on the fraud report at 1:39 p.m. on June 2. The victim told police that sometime back in October/November of 2017, he hired a man to do some work around his house. At some point, the man was inside his house and took the victim’s Home Depot credit card, the chief said.
The man charged $2,800 to the victim’s account. He later agreed to pay off the charges, but paid back only $1,000, leaving a balance of $1,800. No one knows the whereabouts of the handyman, DiBella said.
