Lacey Police Report More Thefts From Unlocked Vehicles
One resident is out almost $800 after someone stole her purse and its contents, police chief says

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey police are again warning residents to lock their vehicle doors, after several thefts were reported over the post week, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
Nantucket Road - Officer Michael Hutman responded to police headquarters at 1:51 p.m. on Feb. 25 on a theft report. The victim told police that between the hours of 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, and 2 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018, someone removed a Guess purse from her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of her Nantucket Road home in Forked River, the chief said.
The value of the purse and its contents are estimated at $787.

Fairview Lane - Officer Chris Meyler responded to the 600 block of Fairview Lane in Forked River at 6:36 p.m. on Feb. 25 on a report of two vehicles that had been burlarized. The victim reported that between 6 p.m. on February 24, and 6 p.m. on February 25, someone entered her two unlocked vehicles parked in her driveway and removed a wallet containing $50 in cash, a New Jersey driver’s license, and loose change from the center consoles. The total amount of the theft is estimated at $75.
Elwood Street - Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas responded to Harrison Avenue and Clifton Street in Forked River at 7:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, on a report of a found purse. The investigation revealed that the purse's owner ,who lives on Elwood Street in Forked River, had her vehicle broken into during the overnight hours between Feb. 26, and Feb. 27. The victim reported that she locked her car, which was parked in the driveway of the residence, but left her key fob in her purse inside the vehicle. The key fob was stolen from the purse. The total amount of the theft is estimated at $105.
