Lacey Police Start Popular "Cop Card" Program

Local businesses are sponsoring individual officers, police chief says

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Never mind collecting baseball cards. Now you can start collecting police officers' trading cards in the 2018 COPS Collectible Card Program.

Production of the cards finished recently, courtesy of the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

It works like this. Participating businesses each sponsor an officer, and then have the trading cards available at their business. Families can bring their children and collect the cards.

"This program is a very interactive and positive community initiative in which the youth of the township and their families get to know more about the officers and staff within their police department," said DiBella, who has his own card.

The program will run from the beginning of April through June. A "Meet the Officer Day" is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
