Lacey Woman Hits 2 Pulling Out Of Parking Spot, Speeds Away: Prosecutor

One of the men was critically injured in the Saturday night hit-and-run at a Toms River apartment complex.

LACEY, NJ — A Lacey Township woman is accused of striking two men with her car, one of whom was critically injured, and then fleeing the scene at a Toms River apartment complex Saturday night, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

Cagla Nemutlu, 22, was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in serious bodily injury, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced.

Toms River police responded to Winteringham Village for report of a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian at about 11:25 p.m. July 19, Bilhimer said.

As Nemutlu was leaving a parking spot, she struck two men, and then sped away from the scene without stopping to help them, Billhimer said.

A 60-year-old man with serious injuries was found at the scene; he was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment, where he was in critical but stable condition as of Sunday afternoon, Billhimer said.

The other man suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, Billhimer said.

Police found Nemutlu within the apartment complex. She was taken to Ocean County Jail where she remains pending a detention hearing.
