Lacey Woman Rescued From Early Morning House Fire: Police

A woman who is disabled was rescued from a home in Lacey that caught fire on Sunday morning, police said.

LACEY, NJ — A woman who is disabled was rescued from a home in Lacey that caught fire on Sunday morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched to an active structure fire on Holly Place at 6:02 a.m. Members of the Forked River Fire Department entered the home and located the homeowner who is disabled.

The 52-year-old woman was carried from the home to safety as the Forked River and Lanoka Harbor Fire Departments extinguished the fire.

Two police officers and the woman were taken to local hospitals for smoke inhalation.

Authorities found the fire originated in the home’s kitchen, according to the initial investigation conducted by the Ocean County Fire Marshal and police detectives.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, police said.
