UPDATE: Lacey Woman Who Nearly Drowned Trying To Save Dog Revived By Emergency Services

Woman had no pulse when she was pulled from the water.

LACEY - Paramedics were able to save a woman who nearly drowned in the water off Wave Drive trying to rescue a dog in the water Thursday evening, Sgt. Robert Flynn said.

Lacey Patrolmen Evan Androcy Andrew Slota, the Lacey Township Underwater Rescue andRecovery Team, the Forked River Fire Department and Lacey Township EMS responded a report of an unconscious female in the water off of Wave Drive in Forked River at 7:06 on July 13.

The victim, a 70-year-old woman, had entered the water try and rescue a dog. She was found clinging to a Jet Ski by rescue personnel who responded to help the dog, Flynn said.

CPR was performed by rescue personnel after she was pulled from the water, he said.

She was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River.

"As of this time, it has not been determined whether the woman’s condition was a result of entering the water or an unrelated medical emergency," Flynn said.

The dog was rescued safely.
