Letter: Don't Delay Your Tax Appeal

Dear Editor:

Are you contemplating a tax appeal in Ocean County? The Deadline is fast approaching. 

Don't delay. Call the Ocean County Tax Board (732-929-2008) and get your form.

Real estate values have not improved and most NJ taxpayers are overassessed. 

Need comparable sales? Try Trulia.com or ask a local realtor for assistance. 

Make sure you use sales during 2012. Do not use 2013 sales.

You do not need an attorney for a tax appeal.

The economic times are hard for everyone. People living on fixed incomes and those with severe storm damage and no use of their homes can not afford to be paying taxes on assessed values that are inflated.

The deadline for appeals in Lacey Township is Monday, April 1.  

This is the only way for a taxpayer to level the playing field.
