Letter: Republican Candidate Offers Tax Relief Advice to Seniors

Dear Lacey,

Tax appeals were due on April 1, 2013. In these tough economic times, every little bit of relief helps.

For homeowners ages 65 or older, or those collecting social security benefits as of Dec. 31, 2011 and Dec. 31, 2012, they have the option of applying for "The Property Tax Reimbursement Program" or "senior freeze."

There are certain eligibility requirements that each applicant needs to meet. The application and eligibility information can be found by calling 800-882-6597 or visiting the Division of Taxation website by clicking here. The application is due back by June 1, 2013.
