Mothers Against Drunk Driving Honors Two Lacey Police Officers

Officers honored for DUI enforcement

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Mothers Against Drunk Driving recently recognized two Lacey police officers for their ability to ferret out drunk drivers Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officers Michael Verwey and Jason Lee were honored at the 2018 MADD New Jersey Law Enforcement Recognition event at the Rutgers College on June 12 for their consistent and diligent drunk driving enforcement efforts, the chief said.

"Both officers serve within the uniformed patrol division of the Lacey Township Police Department and are known locally for their consistent efforts in DUI enforcement," DiBella said. "Drug interdiction and DUI enforcement have been set as a priority for all sworn officers and detectives of the police department."

Lacey Township officers have made over 70 drug arrests as well as 38 drunk driving arrests in the first five months of 2018.

"These efforts will continue and will be intensified as we move forward," the chief said.
