NJ Wildfire: New Map Shows Blaze Perimeter As 13K Acres Burn
The Jones Road Wildfire is burning 13,250 acres and has reached 50 percent containment as of late Wednesday, officials said.

LACEY, NJ — The Jones Road Wildfire is burning 13,250 acres and has reached 50 percent containment as of late Wednesday, according to the latest information from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
Officials released a map (SEE BELOW) showing the containment area of the blaze, which is 15,410 acres. Note that the containment area is preliminary and approximate and does not represent the burned area.

The fire, which started early Tuesday in Barnegat and grew into Lacey and Waretown, is expected to keep burning and reach full containment this weekend, when much-needed rain is forecast to fall in the region.

"We aren't out of the woods yet," Forest Fire Service Warden Trevor Raynor said Wednesday. "We feel good about this, but we're still working toward it."
