Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Lacey Crash: Police

A Waretown woman died after she was struck while crossing Route 9 late Monday, police said.

LACEY, NJ — A pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck and killed while crossing Route 9 in Lacey Township late Monday, police said.

Police and EMS responded to the area of Route 9 and Taylor Lane at 10:24 p.m. Aug. 11 for the report of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian, according to a news release.

The driver of a red 2002 Toyota Tundra, a 61-year-old Forked River man, was heading north on Route 9, police said. The pedestrian, 47-year-old Alycia Mullin of Waretown was crossing Route 9 near Taylor Lane when the pickup truck drove through the intersection and struck her, police said.

Police did not say if the driver was facing any charges.

The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Community Medical Center, where she died, police said. Route 9 between Taylor Lane and Lakeside Drive South was temporarily shut down during the investigation.
