Residents can now scan crime alerts and submit anonymous crime tips on the Lacey Township Police Department's new website

Residents can now scan crime alerts and submit anonymous crime tips on the Lacey Township Police Department’s new website.
“In just the first few days of its activation, residents have already provided valuable information to assist the police department in investigating crimes in our township,” Deputy Mayor Gary Quinn said at a recent Committee meeting.
The website provides “timely updates” on crime alerts and general announcements, he said.

Capt. David Paprota pointed out that the Neighborhood Crime Alert page is not designed to serve as a police blotter.
“It is designed to provide timely information to residents regarding specific conditions of continuing concern within the neighborhoods of Lacey Township,” the website says.

For example, an instance involving an arrest would not be listed as a crime alert because it does not pose an ongoing concern or threat to the community.
Unsolved burglaries, thefts, criminal mischief and other matters of continuing concerns will be listed in chronological order.
Most recently, the police department reported a theft of archery equipment valued at $100 from the porch of a Joseph Avenue home on Feb. 20. The theft occurred between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The page also includes emergency alerts and traffic delays.
Residents who may have witnessed a crime or have information pertaining to an investigation can submit an anonymous crime tip on the website. The police department asks residents to be as specific as possible.
Although the police department cannot act on anonymous information alone, crime tips will be utilized as appropriate to further efforts to reduce criminal activity in the township.
The crime tip cannot be used in place of a formal police report.
The website also includes links to helpful resources, frequently asked questions and information on upcoming events, the police department and special services.
