Return to Popcorn Park a 'Sad Day' for Black Lab Mix

Owner dropped Errol off Thursday, complaining that he wants to run and play too much

Errol was just turned back into the Associated Humane Societies at Popcorn Park Thursday, after being adopted out for six months.

“This is a sad day for our good friend Errol,” Sandy Hickman of Popcorn Park said.

His owner said that he “can’t tolerate Errol any longer,” Hickman said.

The owner complained that, “all he wants to do is run and play, and he pulls the leash out of my hand while being walked” and that, “a .22 and a shovel are what would fix Errol,” Hickman said.

“Obviously this was far from the right home that we wanted for Errol,” she said.

Errol, a 7-year-old black lab mix, originally came to Popcorn Park in the fall of 2010. He waited almost two years to be adopted.

He arrived from down south with a group of seven other dogs. Hickman said Errol was a “favorite” of the staff and volunteers during his stay.

“There is nothing that gets Errol down,” she said. “He has a permanent smile on his face and his tail is usually a blur because it never stops wagging. Errol is truly one of the friendliest dogs ever, and never met a person he didn’t love.”

Errol enjoys exercise, playing, running and showing off his “happy-go-lucky” personality, Hickman said.

He gets along well with some dogs, although not cats, and would be well off with an active family, Hickman said.

“He’s very well behaved and will sit nicely when asked, and even offer you a pawshake for a treat,” she said. “He has beautiful blazing blue eyes that could look intimidating to some people, but we think they add to his great personality.”
