TJ Maxx Store In Lacey Uninhabitable After Car Plows Into Support

Two drivers sideswiped each other and one struck the store entrance, the store has since reopened.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The TJ Maxx store in the Shop Rite Plaza on Route 9 has been ruled unsafe after a car plowed into a concrete and steel support at the store's entrance, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officer John Mckee responded to the TJ Maxx store, located in the ShopRite Plaza, 348 Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor at 10:27 a.m. on May 5 on a motor vehicle accident report involving damage to the building.

The accident occurred when two vehicles sideswiped each other after one failed to yield to the other and one struck the store support, the chief said.

The support was severely damaged and the area was closed to the public. The township building inspector ordered the store closed until repairs could be made, DiBella said.

The driver suffered a concussion, bruised ribs and minor contusions and was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River by the Lacey Township First Aid Squad, the chief said.

The accident is under investigation by Officer John McKee.
