What Would You Build in Lacey?

We asked Patch readers what they would build or fix in Lacey with $1 million. Here's what you said.

Lacey, NJ - Earlier this week, Lacey Patch asked our Facebook readers what they would build or fix in town if they were given $1 million.

Readers from across the area responded with answers varying from new playgrounds, renovated high schools and improved hospitals.

Also early this week, U.S. News and World Report released its list of the Top 10 Children’s Hospitals Across the Country. The hospitals were ranked in terms of “clinical outcomes,” “efficient coordination of care,” and “care-related resources.”

The publication periodically releases lists regarding the best schools in the country as well as most livable cities. Many of the things that make a town or city ‘livable’ are resources and public spaces i.e. good schools, roads, parks, libraries, etc. Not surprisingly, these were many of the things readers said they would build or fix in their town if granted $1 million to do so.

  • "Something for the kids. Like a bowling alley, movie theater, an arcade. A cafe where the kids could get a bite to eat and maybe have an open mic."
  • " I would like a bike trail down Western connecting Bayville and Lacey that goes over the Cedar Creek Bridge."
  • "I would say a rec center. Like a YMCA just not as expensive. There is a perfect lot on Route 9 in Lacey across from the power plant. Not sure what use to be there, but it's right on the water."
  • "A drug rehab."
  • "Lakes. Can't even fish in the 1st lake anymore because of how bad the weeds are. They need to be cleaned."
  • "I would love to open a free rec center for all the children to go to, teenagers included."
  • "Fishing/crabbing piers in the bay"
  • "Indoor/outdoor dog park."
  • " I would build a bowling alley and movie theater... create some jobs for the kids in town, also a safe place to hang out and be with their friends."
  • "I'd pay as many people's property taxes as $1 million would allow."
