$4M In Electronics Stolen From Lakewood Business

Burglars broke into the business through the roof and disabled the security, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Burglars stole more than $4 million in electronics from a Lakewood business after they cut a hole in the roof to get in, police said.

The burglary was reported Sunday, Lakewood police said. The report provided to Patch listed the address as 525 Prospect St., but an Asbury Park Press report said the address was 575 Prospect St., home to CloseoutNJ, which sells consumer electronics on a retail and wholesale basis.

CloseoutNJ deals in Apple products along with various other consumer electronics.

Police said their investigation found the suspects cut a hole in the roof and used a ladder to access the building, then disabled the surveillance system and stole various electronic items.

The burglars also took a van that had been parked outside the business that had additional electronics, police said.

Police said the amount of proceeds and electronics is estimated to be $4 million but the total has not been confirmed or finalized.
