Boy, 9, Killed In Garden State Parkway Crash In Ocean County

The vehicle ran off the entrance ramp and overturned, New Jersey State Police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A 9-year-old boy died Saturday night in a crash on the Garden State Parkway entrance ramp in Lakewood, New Jersey State Police said Sunday.

Jake Olivos of Beachwood suffered fatal injuries in the crash that happened at 10:17 p.m., State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said.

The crash happened on the Parkway southbound at the 89A entrance ramp in Lakewood, when a Volkswage Passat ran off the road and overturned, Curry said.

Olivos was thrown from the car; the driver sustained minor injuries, he said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Curry said.
