Students Unhurt As School Bus Hits Parked Cars: Lakewood Police

The bus wound up perched on one vehicle that ended up on its side, but police said none of the 15 students were injured.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A school bus carrying 15 students to a private school wound up perched atop a minivan in a crash Tuesday morning, but there were no injuries, Lakewood police said.

Lakewood Police Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said there were no injuries in the crash, contrary to earlier reports that said as many 10 people had been hurt.

Staffordsmith said the crash, which involved a Jay's Bus Service bus, happened just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Forest Avenue and 11th Street. The bus had come to rest on top of an unoccupied parked car, but none of the students were injured, he said.

Video posted to Twitter by the Lakewood Scoop shows the bus perched on a minivan, which overturned. Two other cars with damage are visible in the video.

Staffordsmith said an investigation is still being conducted into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
