LAKEWOOD, NJ — Drivers who use Cross Street to avoid traffic along Route 9 in Lakewood will need to find an alternate route beginning Tuesday due to scheduled railroad crossing repairs, the state Department of Transportation announced.

Cross Street is set to be closed and detoured from Prospect Street (also known as county Route 628) to Faraday Avenue, the NJDOT said. The closure is slated to begin at 7 a.m. Tuesday and continue until Oct. 14, authorities said.

The railroad crossing and approaches are being replaced.
