Pregnant NJ Woman, Husband Killed In Snowplow Crash

The woman was 9 months' pregnant with the couple's first child, according to a report.

TINTON FALLS, NJ — A Lakewood couple who were expecting their first child were killed in a crash with a snowplow on the Garden State Parkway Monday night, according to police and reports.

Eliyahu Neydavoud, 29, and Raizel Rothenberg, 30, were killed in the crash that happened about 8 p.m., Trooper Troy McNair of the New Jersey State Police said.

The crash happened as the winter storm that brought about 3 inches of snow to Monmouth County was beginning to move into the area.

Raizel Rothenberg was nine months' pregnant with the couple's first child, and they were on their way to a wedding at the time of the crash, The Yeshiva World reported.

Neydavoud was a rabbi at Ohel Torah in Lakewood, The Lakewood Scoop reported.

Neydavoud was driving north in a Toyota SUV when an International snowplow truck that was driving north tried to turn into an emergency vehicle U-turn area near milepost 104.2 in Tinton Falls, McNair said.

As the plow turned into the U-turn area, the Toyota lost control and hit the side of the snowplow, resulting in fatal injuries to the couple, he said.

The crash remains under investigation, McNair said.
