Route 88 Closed, Cedar Bridge Avenue 1 Lane Each Way In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Motorists are being urged to avoid Route 88 and Cedar Bridge Avenue in Lakewood Wednesday morning because of two crashes, Lakewood police said.

The crash on Cedar Bridge Avenue at Clover Street has left the traffic signal inoperable, police said. Motorists heading south on Clover Street can only turn right (go west) on Cedar Bridge Avenue, police said.

In addition, Cedar Bridge Avenue is limited to one lane in each direction in that area, police said.

The Lakewood Scoop reported a vehicle hit the traffic signal control box at the intersection on Tuesday night.

On Route 88, the road is closed in both directions between New Hampshire Avenue and Lanes Mill Road because of a downed utility pole and downed wires.

Motorists are urged to avoid both areas and warned to expect delays because of traffic diverting to other roads.
