Shooting Sends 16-Year-Old From Lakewood To ER In Toms River
Lakewood police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting that happened Monday night.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Authorities are investigating a shooting that happened Monday night that sent a 16-year-old to the hospital, Lakewood police said Tuesday.
Toms River police called Lakewood police about 10:30 p.m. Monday after a 16-year-old boy arrived at the emergency room at Community Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his leg, Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
The wound was not life-threatening, authorities said.

Staffordsmith said investigators believe the teen was shot in the area of Davina Court in Lakewood, as residents near there told police they heard what sounded like gunshots about 30 minutes before police were called about the teen at the emergency room.
The victim told police that he and several other occupants of a vehicle were meeting with at least one other person when gunshots rang out, Staffordsmith said. The vitctim told police his friends then took him to the hospital.
