There’s Still Time To Catch Fall Festivals Near Lakewood

Fall festivals and Halloween fun still await. Here's where you can get in on the joy.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Fall is a great time to get outside in New Jersey and take in the rich offering of festivals.

The changing colors of autumn provide a scenic background for fall and harvest festivals, which have contests ranging from apple bobbing and pumpkin carving to lumberjack contests and Halloween parades.

Fall is also the season for corn mazes, pumpkin patches and apple orchard visits.

Here are a few festivals and events in the Lakewood area worth putting on the calendar:

Brick's Fall Fest is set for Saturday, Oct. 15 at Windward Beach Park on Princeton Avenue. There will be food trucks, fire pits and a cornhole tournament, games, inflatables and rides for the kids and more. The event begins at 1 p.m. and ends with a fireworks display. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 16.

Downtown Toms River will have its Harvest Arts Festival Saturday, Oct. 15 on Washington Street. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be food trucks, merchandise and handcraft vendors, a beer and wine garden and local artists selling and displaying their works as part of a juried art show. There will be free pumpkin painting for the kids and other kids' activities. Live entertainment from local bands throughout the day. Local businesses, restaurants, brewery and distillery will be open on the street as well.

Sip Into Autumn wine festival comes to Berkeley on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16 at Veterans Park from noon to 5 p.m. Free for spectators and those under 21, sampler tickets are $20 online and $25 at the gate (cash only).

On Oct. 23, One Ocean County will hold a fall festival in Common Grounds, its community garden at the John Patrick Sports Complex on Oak Avenue in Lakewood. The event from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and includes food trucks, crafts, live music, garden tours and demos, a petting zoo and more. The event is free but registration is urged. The first 100 registrants get a free orchid plant.

Point Pleasant Beach has its Homegrown Arts Festival scheduled for Oct. 23. The event is sponsored by the Point Beach Arts Committee, Point Pleasant Beach Recreatio Department and the Point Pleasant Beach Chamber of Commerce and is a day of art, crafts and music. The event is from noon to 5 p.m. on Bay Avenue.
