Wildfire 50% Contained Near Lakewood Country Club, Officials Say

Smoke from the fire is being smelled across northern Ocean County and into Howell.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A wildfire near Lakewood Country Club was 50 percent contained as of Tuesday morning, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said.

Smoke from the fire, which has burned 35 acres, is being smelled in neighboring towns.

Six buildings that were threatened are no longer threatened by the fire, forest fire service officials said.

Clearstream Road remains closed between Brewers Bridge Road and Hope Chapel Road as firefighters continue to fight the fire in Pine Park, which was first reported early Monday afternoon.

There have been no injuries reported.
