LAKEWOOD, NJ — Authorities are investigating an incident Wednesday where an Ocean County employee was killed while working at the Ocean County Northern Recycling Center in Lakewood, police said. Emergency personnel were called to the county recycling center at 800 Towbin Ave. in Lakewood about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said. The employee was killed while working in or around a large dumpster, Staffordsmith said. The worker's identity has not been released. Staffordsmith said authorities were still investigating how the incident happened and said more information will be released as it becomes available.
