16 Mercer Co. Nonprofits Receive Grant From State Art & Culture Fund

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Sixteen Mercer County nonprofit organizations have received grant funding from the New Jersey Arts & Culture Renewal Fund (NJACRF). A total of 96 organizations across the state received $2.2 million in grants from NJACRF.

Established at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NJACRF is hosted by the Princeton Area Community Foundation. It is a collaboration between private and public donors and has supported many of the state’s nonprofit organizations in the arts, culture and historical sectors.

NJACRF has prioritized support to small and mid-size organizations, led by or serving Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) that were found to be disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

“In this round of our grantmaking, the New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund received $5.8 million in requests, indicating the great need that still exists among arts and culture organizations across the state,” Sharnita C. Johnson, Vice President of Strategy, Impact & Communications at Victoria Foundation, said in a statement.

“The New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund directly addresses inequity and historical disparities in funding and intentionally fills the resource gap.”

In the most recent round of awards, grants ranged in size from $1,500 to $50,000, with an average grant size of $23,000. All grants are pending a final review. Grants are being awarded to:

5. Conservatory of Music and Performing Arts Society, Trenton
6. Hopewell Valley Arts of Council, Hopewell
7. James R Halsey Foundation of the Arts, Hamilton
8. Passage Theatre Company, Trenton
9. Storytelling Arts, Inc, Princeton Junction
10. Stretto Youth Chamber Orchestra, Princeton
11. Trent House Association, Trenton
12. Trenton Circus Squad, Trenton
13. Trenton Music Makers, Trenton
14. West Windsor Arts Center, Princeton Junction
15. Westrick Music Academy, Princeton Junction
16. Young Audiences New Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania, Princeton
