93-Year-Old Woman Nearly Swindled out of $14k in Pigeon Drop Scam
With the help of police and vigilant bank employees, the woman did not become a victim.

A 93-year-old woman was nearly swindled out of $14,000 after she was approached by a woman who said she would share a large amount of found money in exchange for a good-faith payment.
It started in Ewing when Carolyn Parker, 55, of Houston, approached the woman at just before 3 p.m. May 29 and told her that she had found a large amount of money and was willing to split her good fortune in exchange for a good-faith fee.

The victim agreed and the two went to the PNC Bank in Ewing. However, the bank, sensing a problem, refused her request and red flagged the account. When the women then tried a similar withdrawal at PNC Bank on Quakerbridge Road, they were denied again.
The Lawrence Township Police became involved when the victim's family couldn't reach her.

Parker was later charged with attempted theft by deception and committed to Mercer County Corrections Center on $70,000 bail.
