Attempted Luring at Rider Univ. Under Investigation

Man allegedly tried to "verbally lure" 24-year-old female university student into his car.

Authorities are investigating an incident that took place on Rider University's Lawrence Township campus Thursday (Nov. 3) in which an "unidentified Asian male" allegedly tied to "verbally lure" a university student into his vehicle, according to police and a report from The Rider News.

Lawrence Township police Lt. Mark Ubry said the 24-year-old female student was walking through a parking lot on the Rider campus when a blue sports car stopped next to her and the male driver “engaged her in conversation” about 11:10 a.m. Thursday.

The woman, not knowing the man, turned and quickly walked away, Ubry said. He said a friend convinced her to report the encounter. She notified campus security who, in turn, contacted Lawrence Township police.
