Lawrence Council Candidates to Debate Tonight
The forum, hosted by the Lawrence Township chapter of the League of Women Voters, will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the township municipal building.

The six candidates vying for three Lawrence Township Council seats in the November election will take part in a forum tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 5).
The debate, which is being hosted by the Lawrence Township chapter of the League of Women Voters, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room on the lower level of the township municipal building at 2207 Lawrence Road (Route 206). Â
Taking part in the forum will be Cathleen Lewis, David Maffei and Michael Powers, and Kyle Collins, Colette Coolbaugh and Falk Engel.

The three seats to be filled by voters Nov. 8 are currently held by Powers, and . Bostock, the lone Republican on the five-person council, and Mount both announced earlier this year that they would not seek reelection.
During the forum, each candidate will make an introductory statement. Afterward, they will be asked questions submitted by audience members. Linda Mather, an experienced LWV moderator from outside Lawrence Township, will serve as the debate's moderator.

“Lawrence residents are the stakeholders in the outcome of the Township Council election and it is important that they know the candidates’ perspectives and views prior to voting,” Susan Varga, president of the League of Women Voters of Lawrence Township, said in a statement.
