Careless Driving Ticket Issued in School Bus Accident

The collision between a small school bus and a private ambulance company vehicle took place Monday afternoon along Business Route 1 in Lawrence Township.

A careless driving ticket has been issued to the driver of the , Lawrence Township police have announced.

Lt. Charles Edgar, police spokesman, identified the driver of the Rick Bus Co. 2005 GMC school bus as Veronica McKinney, 41, of Genesee Street in Trenton.

The accident happened about 1:35 p.m. along the northbound side of Brunswick Pike (Business Route 1) when the school bus struck the rear of the 2007 Ford transport van, which was stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of Texas Avenue, Edgar said.

He said an aide riding on the bus, Geneva Smith, 68, of Southard Street, Trenton, lost a couple teeth and suffered a cut to her right shin as a result of the crash. There were no children on the bus at the time.

The driver of the Medi-Transport vehicle, Gregory Johnson, 47, of Humboldt Street, Trenton, and his passenger, Lauhondra Davis, of Route 138, Wall Township, also suffered minor injuries, Edgar said.

All three were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
