Competitive Eating Star Joey Chestnut Visits 2 Mercer County Eateries

Chestnut, 41, was accompanied by his signature "Mustard Belt."

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut made a special tour of Mercer County this week, visiting two beloved local establishments while carrying his signature trophy.

The 41-year-old Chestnut, who has claimed victory at the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest 17 times and holds the coveted "Mustard Yellow Belt," stopped by DeLorenzo's Tomato Pies in Robbinsville on Monday, bringing his famous championship belt along for the visit.

Later that day, Chestnut visited Chiarello's Deli and Catering in Hamilton, where he sampled the family-owned Italian deli's offerings. Chiarello's is renowned for its cold and hot platters, signature sandwiches, chicken Marsala, vodka rigatoni, and homemade potato and macaroni salads.

According to photos shared by the deli, Chestnut was photographed walking out with their famous 6-foot hoagie and trying their potato salad behind the counter. At both establishments, the competitive eating star posed with staff members while proudly displaying his Mustard Yellow Belt.

The visits gave local food lovers a chance to meet one of competitive eating's biggest stars while showcasing some of Mercer County's most popular dining destinations.
