Council Candidate Blasts Lawrence Officials for Delaying Garbage Collection Tax

Glenn Collins, a candidate for Lawrence Town Council has some harsh words for Council's decision to delay the garbage collection tax. 

"Because it's an election year, the council doesn't want voters to receive a bill for an unprecedented new tax just before Election Day," Collins wrote in a letter to the editor. "So what did they do? Our one-party-controlled council decided to delay collecting the tax until next year. They didn't repeal it. They delayed it. And they are hoping the voters won't notice." 

Collins said Council members, rather than find new ways to cut spending, keep finding ways to raise taxes.
