Dan Benson Elected Next Executive Of Mercer County

MERCER COUNTY, NJ – With all 243 districts reporting, Assemblyman Dan Benson was elected as the next Mercer County Executive.

As of Wednesday morning, Benson led with 69 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from Mercer County.

“Mercer County voters made their voices heard yesterday. They sent a clear message of support for leadership that works for everyone. I’m honored and grateful to have been elected as our next County Executive,” Benson said in his speech on election night.

“Since the very start, our campaign has been about moving Mercer County forward and bringing people together. I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish.”

“Our campaign brought together broad and diverse leaders from across the county. Diversity is one of Mercer County’s greatest strengths and was the backbone of our campaign. No matter where you’re from, who you are, or who you love, our administration will work tirelessly to make sure everyone has a seat at the table.”

Benson led with 44,677 votes over Republican challenger Lisa Marie Richford who pulled in 20,036 votes.

Benson issued a special thanks to the campaign chairs, Mercer County Democratic Chair Janice Mironov, his running mates and all groups who endorsed him.

“The road ahead won’t always be easy. We may not always agree on every issue but as County Executive, one thing’s for sure—you’ll always know where I stand,” Benson said.

“Now the real work begins. We’ve got a lot to do, and I need your help to get it done. When this community comes together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.”
