Extreme Temperatures Thursday, Friday In Lawrence, Cooling Centers Open
With heat index values up to 104 degrees, an excessive heat watch has been extended from Thursday into Friday, weather experts said.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Excessive heat warning has been issued in Lawrence Township for Thursday and Friday.
Thursday’s heat warning has been issued from 11 a.m. onwards, according to the National Weather Service.
Heat index values up to 104 degrees or more are expected. The excessive heat warning has been extended from Thursday morning into Friday evening, said weather experts.

Temperatures during the day both Thursday and Friday will reach the mid-90s, with the humidity making it feel hotter.
"Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities," said the National Weather Service office in New York City, which forecasts for North Jersey counties.

Meanwhile, the township will make two cooling stations available to all residents both days. The Senior Center and the Lawrence Police Department Training Room will provide temporary and limited relief from the heat.
The township is requesting residents to find a more permanent solution by arranging accommodation with friends and family.
Representatives from Volunteers of America will be present to provide assistance to residents in need. Pets are not permitted.

- Friday: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Lawrence Police Headquarters
- Thursday: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler is reminding parents and caregivers about leaving a child in a hot car.
