Ex-Mercer Cop Facing Child Sex Abuse Charges Found Dead From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

The body was found at a Mercer state park on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ - A former Hamilton police officer facing child sexual abuse charges was found dead early Tuesday morning from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a state park, authorities confirmed.

Hopewell Township police responded to Lower Park at 150 River Drive around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, where they discovered the body of Brian DiBiasi, 40. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said he died from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

DiBiasi and his wife, Elizabeth DiBiasi, 43, were arrested in January by New Jersey State Police on allegations that they engaged in sexual acts in the presence of children and recorded the incidents. Elizabeth DiBiasi was employed as a Mercer County sheriff's officer at the time of her arrest.

Hamilton Police had suspended Brian and served him a notice of termination after the charges were filed.

Brian is charged with causing or permitting a child to engage in a sexual act that may be photographed, filmed or reproduced, engaging in sexual conduct that would debauch the morals of a child; possessing fewer than 1,000 images of child sexual abuse; distributing images of child sexual abuse; and possessing images of child sexual abuse with the intent to distribute.

Elizabeth is charged with engaging in sexual conduct that would debauch the morals of a child.

The case is being prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

Brian served Hamilton Police for 21 years, while Elizabeth served for 18 years.
