Home Energy Assistance Available to Eligible Mercer County Residents

Mercer County residents may be eligible for energy cost assistance, Executive Brian M. Hughes announced on Monday. 

The County’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program allows those who meet various income qualifications to apply for bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance and energy-related home repairs. 

Mercer County Home Energy Assistance Program will be conducting information sessions for people who are unsure whether they qualify for assistance under the LIHEAP and USF Weatherization programs.

Information sessions will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Mercer County Library Headquarters, 2751 Brunswick Pike in Lawrence and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Hamilton Township Free Public Library, 1 Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. Way in Hamilton. 

Last year’s clients should receive a recertification form within the first week of the heating season, which begins on Oct. 1. New and returning clients may contact Home Energy Assistance at (609) 989-6858 or 989-6959. 

Monies are administered in conjunction with the NJ Department of Community Affairs, and funding levels are established annually.
