Hurricane Irene Costs Lawrence Twp. Over $168,000
Township officials hope to be reimbursed some of that money by the federal government.
Preliminary figures compiled by Lawrence Township show that cost the township – in terms of – more than $168,000.
Included in the figures are the held throughout town following the hurricane in late August, and the repairs that had to be made to the in the Port Mercer area.
The figures are not final and are subject to adjustment, township officials said.

Township manager Richard Krawczun said it is hoped that the township will eventually be reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for some of the costs associated with the storm. Â
Several meetings between the township and FEMA representatives have already taken place, he noted.
