MERCER COUNTY, NJ - Make a difference in your community while making up to $300 by becoming an Election Board Worker in Mercer County.

These volunteers are the backbone of the democratic process, ensuring elections run smoothly at polling locations throughout the county.

The Mercer County Board of Elections is inviting residents to attend the 2nd annual National Election Board Worker Recruitment Day Celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 4:30 p.m. The event takes place at the Mercer County Office Park, at 1440 Parkside Ave., Ewing, with a program ceremony beginning at 5:30 pm.

This celebration offers an excellent opportunity for first-time candidates and returning workers alike to learn about the role. The evening features guest speakers, special presentations, voting equipment demonstrations, light refreshments, and activities for children.

“Whether you are considering becoming an Election Board Worker for the very first time, or are considering serving again, our National Election Board Worker Recruitment Day Celebration is a great opportunity to learn more and apply to serve,” said Jill Moyer, Mercer County Board of Elections Chairwoman.

Election Board Workers check in voters on election day and set up voting equipment at polling locations throughout Mercer County.

To serve as an Election Board Worker in Mercer County, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen, age 18 or older, registered to vote in Mercer County, NJ
  • OR a student aged 16-17 who is a U.S. citizen and resident of Mercer County

Special Need for Bilingual Workers

Bilingual residents are especially valued as Election Board Workers. The county particularly needs workers who speak English plus Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Gujarati, or Punjabi to better serve Mercer County's diverse community.

Interested candidates can also submit an application in person at the Aug. 12 event.

Mercer County offers flexible scheduling options:

  • Full Day shift: $300
  • Half Day shift: $150

All applicants must complete mandatory in-person training to learn their responsibilities as Election Board Workers. Online refresher courses are also available to ensure all workers feel fully prepared for election day.
