Gas Utility Work Detours Eldridge Park School Traffic
Because PSE&G is excavating sections of Lawn Park Avenue to work on natural gas lines under the street, Lawrence Township school district is temporarily diverting Eldridge Park Elementary School traffic to Meadowbrook Avenue.
Since last week, crews from Public Service Electric & Gas Co. have been working on the natural gas lines located beneath Lawn Park Avenue. As a result of that work – which involves excavating sections of the roadway – the Lawrence Township public school district has temporarily diverted traffic for to the Meadowbrook Avenue side of the school.
“The police department is working with [Eldridge Park Principal] Kathy Robbins to work with residents so that during times of drop off and pickup there’s no parking on Meadowbrook. And they are working with residents to let them know that, so that we can have a safe arrival and dismissal for our students,” Schools Superintendent Crystal Lovell said during the township school board meeting on Oct. 10.
Lovell said during that meeting that PSE&G officials had advised the school district that the work on the gas lines on Lawn Park Avenue could take up to three weeks to complete.
