Lawrence Nature Center Hosts Presentation on Bats

The program, which is free and suitable for children 6 and older, will take place Oct. 26.

The tomorrow evening, Wednesday, Oct. 26, will host a special Halloween-season event, “Indiana Bat and the Cave of Doom

In this educational family-friendly presentation, naturalist Rick Dutko will talk about the benefits of bats and efforts to help protect bats throughout New Jersey. Young participants will then be given the opportunity to survey for bats in the nature center’s own “Cave of Doom.”

A flyer for the event reads: “Are our bats imperiled as they sleep in the Cave of Doom? What threatens these beneficial mammals? Is it snakes? Misguided people? A frightful fungus? Can you help our hero Indiana Joe, the Indiana Bat, find out what is happening to our bats here at the nature center? Are you up to this challenge?”
