Lawrence Boy Scouts Take Top Award at Camporee

Boy scouts from Lawrence Township's Troop 28 win team-building exercise.

Scouts of Lawrence Township Boy Scouts Troop 28 had something to crow about when they scared up a first-place win at this year’s Camporee, conducted the weekend of Oct. 22-24 at Mercer County’s Rosedale Park in Hopewell Township.

The theme of the Camporee, attended by scores of scouts from the Central Jersey Council, was the Battle of Rosedale, and scouts learned about the American Revolution and competed in a variety of contests and activities.

In the scarecrow team-building activity, Troop 28 incorporated the Halloween holiday into their creation, which depicts a Jack-o-lantern Boy Scout ready for a hike.
