Ahead Of CFO Retirement, Lawrence Township Seeks New Person To Fill Position
The candidate should hold a New Jersey CMFO license and have over three years of experience.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Lawrence Township is seeking an experienced full-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO)/Director of Finance (oversees Tax Collector and Tax Assessor Departments).
The candidate should hold a New Jersey CMFO license and have over three years of experience in a municipal finance setting, either as an Assistant, Deputy CFO or CFO.
The current CFO is retiring Dec. 1.

The Township operates a $60+ million operating budget. There are no municipal utilities.
The 2024 audit had no findings and recommendations, which indicates the township’s strong financial operations.

Key responsibilities include preparing and maintaining annual operating and capital budgets (including Capital Ordinance Preparation), grant accounting, bank reconciliations and supporting workpapers, maintaining general ledger, cash management, debt management, assisting with audits, 1099 preparation, overseeing capital and trust funds, monitoring internal financial controls, supervising staff, handling special projects, meetings and other related duties as needed.
The desired candidate will possess the following qualifications: CMFO certification, have strong management, mathematical, and analytical skills, professional demeanor, excellent communication abilities, knowledge of NJ law, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with DLGS FAST System, Edmunds GovTech and Primepoint Payroll is preferred. Certification as a Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) is a plus.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
