Artists From Lawrence's HomeFront To Exhibit Works At Princeton Public Library

"Through the Storm: Finding Home" will showcase works by artists impacted by poverty and homelessness.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Artists who have been impacted by poverty and homelessness will be showcasing their artwork and poetry at an exhibition in Princeton Public Library.

“Through the Storm: Finding Home”, featuring artists from Lawrence Township-based HomeFront will be on display from Oct. 23 through Dec. 31.

An opening reception will take place on Monday, Oct. 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The special event provides an opportunity for visitors to engage in conversations with HomeFront team members and participating artists.

The exhibit highlights the personal histories, experiences, and aspirations of HomeFront artists. Through their work, the exhibit delves into crucial issues pertaining to liberty, particularly homelessness, by offering personal reflections that bind people together including cultural identity, trauma and loss, ingenuity, and innovation, as well as resistance and resilience.

All the art and poetry featured in this exhibit have been created by individuals who have experienced homelessness and participated in HomeFront's therapeutic ArtSpace program.

"The HomeFront client artists have worked together on this engaging and educational installation. Through their art, they invite visitors to empathize with the experience of homelessness and gain a deeper understanding of the human struggle for liberation," said Ruthann Traylor, the Director of ArtSpace/SewingSpace at HomeFront.

HomeFront provides programs for immediate and long-term solutions for families in the crisis of or on the brink of homelessness. This includes shelter, service-enriched affordable housing, education, quality childcare, preschool, summer camp, after-school programs, employment training and placement, case management, and necessities such as food, clothing, hygiene items, diapers, and furniture.
