Man Revived with CPR Remains in Critical Condition

Lawrence Township police say they suspect drug use in the case of the 29-year-old man who was found not breathing and without a pulse on Wayside Lane late Sunday night.

The man who was , lying in the road on Wayside Lane late Sunday night (Nov. 6), remains in critical condition at a hospital in Trenton, police confirmed today (Nov. 8).

Lt. Charles Edgar, police department spokesman, said drug use is suspected but the exact circumstances of how the 29-year-old Levittown, Pa., resident ended up sprawled out in the roadway remain under investigation by Detective James Smith.

The man's name is being withheld by police at this time.

Responding to a 911 call about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, police officers found the man not breathing and without a pulse on Wayside Lane near the corner with Lawrence Road (Route 206).

Officers immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) efforts. A township ambulance crew and Capital Health System paramedics soon arrived and took over patient care.

At some point, rescuers managed to get his heart working again and get him breathing once more, and he was admitted to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

Police established a crime scene – cordoning off a large area of Wayside Lane with yellow tape that read, in both English and Spanish, “POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS” – and spent several hours in the early part of Monday investigating.

Later, about 11:30 a.m. on Monday, police returned to Wayside Lane to search a vehicle connected to the incident. It was not revealed if any evidence was recovered from the vehicle.
